EUROPE DAY, MAY 9
European Union Ambassadors celebrate Europe Day, May 9, by becoming substitute teachers at schools in the District, Maryland and Virginia. Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States, Ambassador John Bruton, and colleagues from 26 EU Member State embassies talk to students about the European Union at 32 public and private area schools. They are also providing classroom materials for both teachers and students, including interactive resources. The teaching sessions take place between May 5 and May 13, with most of the Ambassadors teaching on Europe Day itself. Read more; EU Cultural Diversity Celebrated; Background
