Fourth Annual European Union Open House, May 8, 2010
The 2009 Third Annual European Union Open House Day on
Saturday, May 9, from 10 AM to 4 PM, was once again, a huge success!

This year's
Kids Euro
Festival presents the exceptional diversity of European cultures,
showcasing the vitality of EU arts through children's entertainment. The
festival is geared toward Washington, DC, metropolitan-area children aged 4
to 12 years old and their families. Activities include weekday, in-school
performances; weekend shows and workshops at theaters and cultural
institutions; activities for hospitalized children; teacher workshops and

The
2009 AFI European Union Film Showcase, the signature fall cultural
event for Washington, DC, movie lovers and the area’s embassy community,
will formally kickoff November 5 with the Opening Night feature
presentation, MAMMOTH [Mammut], a Swedish/Danish/German coproduction written
and directed by Lukas Moodysson (LILYA 4-EVER) and starring Michelle
Williams (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) and Gael García Bernal (THE MOTORCYCLE
DIARIES). The film marks director Moodysson’s first foray into
English-language filmmaking, and focuses on the global marketplace, and the
connections and separations it imposes on families. The film premiered at
this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. |
