On September 28, 2012--for the fifth consecutive year, the embassies of the European Union will celebrate “Euro Night,” hosted by La Maison Française. Throughout the evening, guests will take a cultural tour around Europe--feasting on national dishes, sampling drinks from the open bars, and enjoying live music and dancing. Last year more than 20 European Union embassies showcased their culinary specialties and traditions during this festive event. Kids Euro Festival, October 12 - November 8, 2012
The 2012 Kids Euro Festival will again present the exceptional diversity of European cultures, showcasing the vitality of EU arts through children's entertainment. The 2011 Festival was an overwhelming success, as were its predecessors. The festival is geared toward Washington, DC, metropolitan-area children aged 3 to 12 years old and their families. Activities include weekday, in-school performances; weekend shows and workshops at theaters and cultural institutions; activities for hospitalized children; teacher workshops and seminars; workshops for local children's artists. 25th Anniversary AFI-EU Film Showcase, November 1 - 21, 2012
In 2012 the annual AFI-EU Film Showcase will celebrate its 25th Anniversary, with a 3-week festival of special events featuring filmmakers, film premieres, European happy hours, and Opening Night, Centerpiece, and Closing Night parties. The signature fall cultural event for Washington, DC movie lovers and the area’s embassy community will present a wide array of feature films from the 27 member countries of the European Union. The 2011 edition of the long-running showcase featured 44 films, including THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH, Pawel Pawlikowski's moody, Paris-set thriller starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas; and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY, John le Carré's seminal Cold War thriller, presented in person by Swedish director Tomas Alfredson and actor Gary Oldman.
