8008: The Problem of Space Travel

Stop in to view the current art exhibit by Dunja Zupancic and Dragan Zivadinov, in collaboration with Miha Tursic. The exhibit thematically deals with the scientific work of a Slovenian pioneer of space travel, Herman Potocnik Noordung (1892-1929). Noordung's book that was published in 1929, "The Problem of Space Travel," is a central part of the exhibit. The exhibit also presents a strucutral framework of the avant-garde performance "Petdesetletna gledaliska predstava/Noordung: 1995-2045" ("Fifty years performance/ Noordung: 1995-2045"). The performance, which premiered in 1995, is repeated every 10 years by the same performers on the same day at the same time. It will end in 2045, when Dragan Zivadinov will place 14 umbots in orbit: highly technological transmissionary replacements of the already dead performers.
