Verdi on Stage

Italy

Exhibit

Monographic photo exhibition.

A photography exhibition by Graziella Vigo.

The Istituto, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the United States, presents a photography exhibition dedicated to the great music of Giuseppe Verdi.

This collection focuses on eight great operas: "Macbeth," "Rigoletto," "Il Trovatore," "La Traviata," "Un Ballo in Maschera," "Aida," "Otello," and "Fallstaff." These photographs were shot during live performances in the world's most important theaters including: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto and the NHK in Tokyo.

The works are unique copies, printed on a special canvas, which allows for pictorial effects. Shot during live performances and taking into account the stage's lighting requirements, these pictures have the ability to capture the soul of Verdi's music.

They portray the shows and their timeless moments, revealing details that often are elusive to opera lovers entranced by the magical music.

Developed from an idea by Graziella Vigo.

Project by Carlo Ciraudo e Massimiliano Maiola.

Design: Giuseppe Marco di Paolo.

"Verdi on Stage" is made possible with the financial support by AMBER CAPITAL.
