EU Research Commissioner Potocnik at Harvard:
Scientific and Research Challenges in a Globalized
World
In a speech at Harvard University today, EU Science &
Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik addressed globalization and its
ramifications for the EU and the U.S., underscoring the
opportunities presented by a more global market and the continuing
pre-eminence of Europe and America in research. He also noted the
rise of Asia, China and India in particular, as new forces. "We will
clearly have to get used to China and others developing into science
and technology powers - on a fully equal footing with Europe and the
U.S.," Commissioner Potocnik said. "There will be a 'multipolar'
world in science."
