EU Research Commissioner Potocnik at Harvard: Scientific and Research Challenges in a Globalized World

In a speech at Harvard University today, EU Science & Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik addressed globalization and its ramifications for the EU and the U.S., underscoring the opportunities presented by a more global market and the continuing pre-eminence of Europe and America in research. He also noted the rise of Asia, China and India in particular, as new forces. "We will clearly have to get used to China and others developing into science and technology powers - on a fully equal footing with Europe and the U.S.," Commissioner Potocnik said. "There will be a 'multipolar' world in science."
