EU Sets Out New China Strategy

Laying the groundwork for upcoming negotiations on an EU-China Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, the European Commission today outlined an ambitious new agenda for EU-China relations.  Priority areas include support for China's transition towards a more open and pluralistic society, sustainable development, bilateral cooperation, promotion of global security and non-proliferation and trade and economic relations--where China's economic rise brings with it new responsibilities to fulfill WTO obligations, open up markets and trade fairly.
