EU-US Atlantis Program Paves Way for Transatlantic University Degrees

The European Commission is launching 14 new projects with the United States to foster transatlantic academic cooperation through student exchanges. Providing innovative courses and degree structures, the European Commission will invest a total of 3.8 million euros in these projects, an amount that will be matched by the United States.

The European Commissioner for Education, Ján Figel', said: "The Atlantis program is a tangible example of the fruits of our cooperation with our American partners. […] Atlantis will help promote mutual understanding between the European Union and the United States, by allowing hundreds of European and American students to spend between one and three semesters on the other side of the Atlantic with full academic recognition of that period of study abroad."
