EU Leaders in Washington for Ministerial Meeting with Secretary of State Rice

The EU "Troika"—German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, representing the current EU Presidency, EU High Representative Javier Solana, and EU Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner—meets today with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. The agenda will be dominated by foreign policy issues, notably the Middle East Peace Process and the announcement of a new Palestinian Government of National Unity, as well as Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria; the future of Kosovo; relations with Russia; Sudan/Darfur; and Afghanistan. Other items on the agenda include the next EU-U.S. Summit (April 30 in Washington) and the German Presidency's proposal for a new Transatlantic Economic Partnership.
