EU and Central America Conclude Second Round of Association Agreement

The European Union and Central America last week concluded the second round of negotiations of a bi-regional Association Agreement. The negotiations focused on political dialogue, cooperation, and trade.

A first round took place in Costa Rica last October and three other rounds are envisaged this year. The objective is to conclude, if possible by 2009, a comprehensive agreement which would enhance the political dialogue between both regions, intensify the cooperation in number of areas, and facilitate bi-regional trade and investments.
