AIRCRAFT SUBSIDIES: EU TRADE COMMISSIONER READY TO CONTINUE NEGOTIATION

EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson has issued the following statement in Brussels yesterday:

"I regret that it has not been possible to reach an interim agreement [also] by 11 April. But given the complexity of the issues this is perhaps not surprising. Both sides should now pause for further thought, and review the situation. The EU remains interested in reaching an initial agreement that reduces the levels of government support in this sector and completing a comprehensive agreement in the longer term. I stand ready to continue negotiation.”
