EU ECONOMIC AND FINANCE COMMISSIONER ALMUNIA IN US

Joaquin Almunia, EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, is in Washington, DC, this weekend for the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank.

At 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, Commissioner Almunia will give a joint press conference with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the EU Luxembourg Presidency. The briefing will take place immediately after the G7 meeting. Accredited press interested in attending should go to the Daughters of the American Revolution Building, 1776 D Street, NW. While in Washington, Commissioner Almunia will meet with IMF Managing Director Rodrigo Rato, incoming World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan and US Treasury Secretary John Snow.

Before departing for New York, where he will deliver opening remarks to a conference on the euro and European financial integration (“The Euro: Once Currency, One Financial Market”). The conference, which has been organized by the European Commission, will take place April 19-20 at the St. Regis Hotel, 2 East 55th Street, New York City.
