NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK SCHOOLS RISE TO THE EURO
CHALLENGE
Four High School Teams Win over $18,000 in Prize Money
After two days of intense competition among 23 high
schools from the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut
area, 4 teams emerged as the winners of the
Euro
Challenge.
The competition, launched by the Delegation of the
European Commission in Washington, DC, fosters a better
understanding of the strong economic and political
relationship between the United States and Europe. The
competition encourages high school students to learn
about the European Union (EU) and the
Euro, the single
currency shared by 13 of the 27 countries of the EU.

"The Euro Challenge is a tremendous event,"
said
John
Bruton, Head of the Delegation of the European
Commission to the United States. "The young people that
compete learn a great deal about the euro and the EU,
and end up appreciating more deeply why the relationship
between Europe and America is the strongest in the
world."
In a ceremony on March 9th, Ambassador Bruton presented
the winners [shown below] with prize money totaling over $18,000,
provided by the Moody’s Foundation.
