March 18-31 was European Week in the USA to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome
A variety of events reaching the widest possible audience, all coordinated by the European Commission’s Delegation in Washington, was be hosted by European embassies in Washington, consulates in other major US cities, EU Centers of Excellence, universities, public policy institutes and local partner organizations around the country.
The theme of the week was European unity as well as 50 years of successful relations between Americans and Europeans. The focus was on the historic ties between the EU and the US and highlighting half a century of cooperation. The European Union celebrating 50 years of Peace, Prosperity and Partnership will be a recurrent theme in many speeches and public addresses throughout the year.
