The US and Europol Agree to Share More Information

December 6, 2001

BRUSSELS, 06/12 (BELGA) On Thursday evening, the European Union the United
States signed a "historical" agreement for more information sharing in criminal
investigations into terrorist activities and major offences such as slave trade or drug
trafficking.

The agreement was signed beside the European Council of Ministers of Justice and
Europol, the European law enforcement agency, and the United States, exceptionally
represented by US Secretary of State Colin Powell.

This Europol-US agreement is then about the fight against terrorism and serious
international crime.
