Dear Senator Biden,

The members of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the United States of America and myself are shocked and horrified by the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

I wish to express to you personally and to the members of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee our deepest sympathy for the innocent victims of these attacks.

The European Parliament has repeatedly condemned in the strongest possible terms such appalling acts and I wish to assure you of our determination to stand by the USA in combating terrorism.

I would also like to inform you that the European Parliament delegation is ready to participate in any event that may demonstrate our common resolve to continue working together in promoting peace, security and prosperity in the world.

FOR RELATIONS WITH THE USA

Washington, D.C., September 11, 2001

The members of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the United States of America, on an official visit in Washington, D.C., were shocked and horrified at the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

The European Parliament delegation expresses its deepest sympathy to the families of the innocent victims and to the people of the United States, its government and elected representatives.

The European representatives condemn in the strongest possible terms these appalling acts and reaffirm their solidarity with the USA in combating terrorism.
